Earlier, as part of our drive to engage all our strategic stakeholders, we engaged the Deputy Minister responsible for Youth at the Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service, Hon. Emma Kantema in Windhoek.
We briefed the Hon. Minister, on the activities of the Pan African Youth Union and thanked the government of Namibia for their unyielding support to the Union. The Hon. Minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry and the Government of Namibia to the work of the PYU.
The leadership reminded the Hon. Minister of Namibia’s commitments and the strategic role the country plays within the youth development ecosystem in Africa.
The reform and revitalization of the Pan African Youth Union was led by the Republic of Namibia between 2002 to 2006, which was endorsed by the Conference of Youth Ministers and African Union Executive Council captured in decision EX.CL/Dec.292 and further recognized by Executive Council in decision EX.CL/Dec.468.
The current Executive Committee will continue to explore all avenue to unite and harmonize the youth development ecosystem in Africa and provide a platform for every young person to find expression.
